        1.Don’t set fluency targets
Never ever commit the mistake of setting a “number of words spoken per minute” kind of targets. They are destructive as they do not allow the mind to really work constructively without pressure.
        2.Be a natural
Let things happen naturally. As you read more, and convert the read word into spoken word, your speed will gradually pick up. Do not be artificial.
        3.Read, read, read
As you read more, your confidence about issues / topics / subjects will grow. You will start owning knowledge. You will develop an inner, natural strength. It is a matter of time that is starts showing on your face.
4.Write at least 1 essay per day
It is the ultimate test of what you are learning, and if you are learning something at all. Pick a plain paper, think of a topic, and write an essay (300 words max) on it. Do it every day. It will very productively force you to raise the level of the game.
        5.Be measured while you speak
Do not try to outgun anyone in the group. Take a few seconds before you react (2 or 3 seconds, say). That will ensure that you do not over-react, instant-react, or wrong-react.
        6.Talk to yourself
You will never be ashamed doing that. Keep doing it regularly. It will open up your tongue.
7.Shout, at least once a day
Go to the rooftop literally, and shout aloud. Do that for some minutes. Speak something sensible if you can. It will train the mind not to be scared of anything. Of course, if you do that elsewhere, people may beat you up :)
8.Love yourself for what you are
This is perhaps the most crucial step. If you hate yourself for not being a fluent English speaker (as per whatever random benchmark you’ve adopted), your sense of self-worth will be destroyed. Don’t let that happen to you.
I have come across some really fast speakers who talk sense, and some who are idiots; some measured speakers who talk a lot of sense; and some slow speakers who are a pleasure to listen to.
It all depends on your profession, your eye-contact and body language, and the choice of words + depth of knowledge.
So relax, and start your personal journey of success! It will take time, so buckle up. Wish you great luck.

An integrated approach with effective administration, adequate financing and capable human resource may lead a business organisation towards the path of goal attainment. Disintegration among these elements may lead towards its own demise sooner or later. Pace Leisurewear Ltd is a company that designs and manufactures the casual and leisure clothes aimed particularly at the younger, higher-income market. It was established by Jill Dempsey and Mike Greaves, who are the Managing Director and Production Manager of the company respectively.

By observing the case study of this company, we know that the company is in trouble because the letter from the company’s bank was asking it for the reduction in the overdraft. This letter from the bank has made them worried because if they can’t keep up the overdraft, they will not be able to fulfil the big order by Arena, which was one of the several national chains of casual and sportswear stores that was placing substantial orders with Pace. It shows that they were facing liquidity problem. A general outlook of the case study putting aside the financial statements provides us with some other difficulties that the company was facing.

Trading of the company during the recession period was a problem. Moreover, recession itself was a problem for the company. Though it was a big company, the production director Mike was looking after the financial matters. There was no one within the company who had any great financial expertise. When there was a problem, the company’s auditors were normally asked for advice. The company is facing poor cash situation as conveyed by Mike Greaves which might be result of their spending on fixed assets like plant. Declaration of no further investment in the company by the largest shareholder Keeble States also came as a shock to the company when there was a hope that Keeble States would invest money and they would be able to issue overdraft. Also, an indifference of the largest shareholder in the affair of the company can be regarded as a problem. Such indifference directly affects the operation of company that ultimately, has the effect on financial situation of the company.

Breaching of the overdraft limit over the past few years by the company functioned as a proof of their dishonesty. Also, we can identify that the company was running along with the conflict between the largest shareholder Keeble brothers and the other board members. The other board members were bringing forth the idea of introducing another major shareholder, which was against the wish of Keeble brothers. So, the company was facing the problem in decision making.

A quick look upon the balance sheet of the company, gives us the information that there is a massive increment in the non-current assets. Though investment in the non-current assets is good for the company in the long run, it may cause problem to the company in its day to day operation. It may create an inadequacy of working capital which is necessary for daily activities. The amount of trade receivables has increased which indicates that the goods are being sold on credit.

Calculation and Interpretation of Financial Ratios
The income statement and balance sheet are the traditional basic financial statements of a business enterprise. They do not give all the information related to the financial operations of a firm. Still, they provide some extremely useful information to the extent that balance sheet mirrors the financial position on a particular date in terms of structures of assets, liabilities and owners’ equity and others and profit and loss account shows the results operations during a certain period of time in terms of revenues obtained and the cost incurred during the year.

In depth analysis of financial statements is supported with ratio-analysis. It is the most widely used technique of financial statement analysis. Ratio analysis is a systematic use of ratio to interpret the financial statements so that the strengths and weaknesses of a firm as well as its historical performance and current financial condition can be determined. Ratios are relative figures reflecting the relationship between variables. A single figure by itself has no meaning but when expressed in terms of related figure, it yields significant inferences. Ratios can be divided into profitability ratio, liquidity ratio and activity ratio.

To analyse the financial statement and condition of the Pace Leisurewear Ltd, the method of ‘ratio analysis’ is used as a major tool. Here, return on capital employed, return on equity (shareholders’ fund), gross profit margin, net profit margin, inventory holding period, average collection period for trade receivables, sales to capital employed ratio, current ratio, quick assets (liquid or acid test) ratio and gearing ratio are used as major tools for the interpretation of business condition and financial statements, though there are other tools for the interpretation. Calculation and interpretation of these ratios provide us with the information about liquidity, profitability and efficiency of the company. The calculation and interpretation of the ratios can be shown as below:

Return on Capital Employed (ROCE)
ROCE ratio tells us how much profit we earn from the investment the shareholders have made in their company. If the company has low ROCE ratio, it is using its resources inefficiently, even if its profit margin is high. The higher the ratio the more efficient is the use of capital employed.

In context of the Pace Leisurewear Ltd, ROCE ratio was increased in the last year than the year before last. From the calculation, we got, it was 30% in the last year whereas it was 20% in the year before last. So, we can say that the company had better performance in the last year than the year before last.

Return on Equity
This ratio indicates the profitability to the shareholders of the firm with deduction of all expenses and taxes.

In context of this company, the return on equity ratio was increased which is good for the company. It was 32.5% in the last year and 18% in the year before last.

Gross Profit Margin
It indicates the efficiency of operations and firm’s pricing policies. The larger the gross profit margin, the better for the company. It looks at how well a company controls the cost of its inventory and manufacturing of its products and subsequently pass on the cost to its customers.

From the calculation we found that the gross profit margin ratio was increased. It was 46.16% in the year before last and 48.16% in the last year which is good for the company.

Net Profit Margin
This ratio measures the relationship between net profit and sales of a firm. A high net profit margin in ratio is an indicative of adequate return to the owners as well as enables a firm to withstand adverse economic conditions. A low net profit margin ratio has the opposite implications.

From the calculation, we found that the net profit margin ratio was increased. It was 8.91% in the year before last and 13.10% in the last year. It shows that the company was selling well which is good for the company.

Inventory Holding Period
A high number of days inventory indicates that there is lack of demand for the product being sold whereas a low days inventory holding period may indicate that the company is not keeping enough stock on hand to meet the demands.

It is known from the above calculation that the inventory holding period for the company in the year before last was 63 days and for the last year it was 95 days. So, this extension in the inventory holding period is a problem for the company which obstructs the path of cash generating.

Average Collection Period of Trade Receivables
This ratio indicates the speed with which debtors/accounts receivables are being collected. A short, collection period implies prompt payment by the debtors. It reduces the chance of bad debts. Similarly, a longer collection period implies too liberal and inefficient credit collection performance.

From the calculation, we found that, the collection period for the debtors/accounts receivables for the year before last was 42 days whereas for the last year it was 61 days. So, it indicates that the company was inefficient in its credit collection performance. This delay in the collection of receivables, may have adverse effect in the liquidity position and also there lies possibility of accounts receivables being bad debts.

Sales to Capital Employed Ratio
It is the ratio which indicates the relationship between the capital employed and sales revenue. The higher the ratio the higher is the revenue, the lower the ratio the lower the revenue.

From the calculation, we found that the ratio of capital employed in the year before last was 1.34 times and for the last year it was 1.44 times. It indicates that the Pace Leisurewear Ltd was generating more revenue.

Current Ratio
The ratio of total current assets to total liabilities is current ratio. It measures the short term solvency, that is, its ability to meet short term obligations. The higher the current ratio, the more capable the company is of paying its obligations. A ratio under 1 suggests that the company would be unable to pay off its obligations if they come due at that point.

From the calculation, we found that the current ratio for Pace Leisurewear Ltd in the year before last was 1.76:1 and for the last year it was 1.44:1. This ratio indicates that the short-term solvency of the company was getting poorer.

Quick Assets ( liquid or acid test) Ratio
It is the ratio between quick current assets and current liabilities. It shows a firm’s ability to meet current liabilities with its most liquid assets. Companies with the ratio less than 1, are supposed to be in vulnerable condition. Such companies are unable to pay their current liabilities, which show the dependency of current assets on inventory.

In case of this company, it was found that quick assets ratio was getting weaker. It was 0.78:1 in the year before last and 0.47:1 in the last year. It indicates that the company was in difficulty of paying current liabilities. It was even weaker in the last year than the year before last.

Gearing Ratio
The higher the gearing, the higher the dependence on borrowing and long term finance. The lower the gearing ratio, the higher the dependence on equity financing.

Here, in case of this company, the gearing ratio for the last year was 42.3% and 34.4% for the year before last. It shows that the company had a reliance on sources of long term loan.

Conclusion and Recommendation
From the above calculation and interpretation of the ratio and its analysis based on the two years’ financial statement of the Pace Leisurewear Ltd, we came to know that the company was facing mainly a liquidity problem. In order to get rid of such financial problem, assuming myself as a member of Drake Management Consultants, would like to recommend that the company should issue the shares, increase the cash sales rather than credit sales, collect the trade receivables promptly, decrease the long term liabilities and not exceed the limit of overdraft. Beside this, it needs to employ a financial expert and develop an environment of mutual understanding and trust among the shareholders and board of directors.

Students of accounting often assume that how well they write is a matter of little importance. However, accountants and other finance professionals spend a large percentage of their time writing, and that percentage tends to increase as they climb the corporate ladder. The ability to clearly and succinctly communicate information in writing may therefore prove just as important as your financial acumen in determining your success, both at university and in your subsequent career.
The Importance of Effective Communication
Accounting and other finance professionals devote a considerable amount of their time to presenting financial information, summaries, analyses and projections in the form of written reports. No matter how well a financial analysis may be executed, its value will be seriously diminished if it is not summarised and communicated clearly and succinctly. For this reason, companies place considerable value on effective writing skills, and your university lecturers and tutors will expect you to acquire the skills of clear academic writing.
Keep Your Audience in Mind
Always write with a specific audience in mind and tailor your document accordingly. On your degree as in the professional world, the style of writing you need to employ will be dictated by the kind of document you are required to produce. Always refer to exemplars of the relevant documents in order to familiarise yourself with the appropriate conventions and accepted formatting guidelines. When it comes to university essays, you should model your writing on that of articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals in the field.

Structure
The specific structure of your essay will depend upon the type of document you are writing, but all essays must have clear and concise introductory and concluding paragraphs. For maximal clarity of structure and presentation it is often a good idea to divide the body of your paper up into numbered sections and subsections. Each such section and subsection should also have a short and informative heading. Within each section and subsection the discussion must likewise be divided into paragraphs, with each paragraph devoted to a single well-defined point. Special care must be taken to ensure that your sentences and paragraphs follow one another in a logically coherent order and that appropriate transitional phrases and sentences are used.
Concision
Effective writing in accounting and finance is all about clarity, concision and accuracy. You should always make careful decisions about what needs to be included and what may be omitted. Use plain language to make your points and avoid wordiness. Never ramble or go off at tangents. Once a point has been made, move on to the next paragraph or section. Strive for economy of expression and remember that proper sentence construction, spelling, and punctuation are never dispensable.
Graphics
Tables and figures (e.g. graphs and flowcharts) should always be used purposefully and presented to summarise key information as clearly as possible. Take care in deciding which information should be presented visually and never assume that he graphics speak for themselves. Direct your reader to the relevant information in the text and explain what each graphic shows.
Conclusion
Too many student papers end abruptly without providing a proper conclusion. Your concluding paragraphs should provide a succinct summary of the main points you have made in the body of the paper and may also indicate its broader implications. However, a conclusion is not the place to introduce new claims, evidence or arguments, which only evinces poor essay planning.
Final Touches
Always proof-read, revise and edit your work (or have somebody else do it for you) to ensure correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, and be sure to format and reference it in accordance with your department’s preferred specifications.  Upon carefully re-reading your paper you will also be able to strip away redundancies and find better ways to clarify certain points.

Article 1

1.0 Abstract

The following report combines researched information from various sources to consider what is happening when Europe suffering recession and what can the government do to lower unemployment rate. According to the article, Europe is experiencing recession. Recession will result in cyclical unemployment, which is unavoidable. Besides that, Economists in Europe fear that falling prices will make shoppers to reduce purchases, forcing employers to lower production and cannel planned salaries rises. There is little motivation for consumers to increase purchases and speed up economic growth without a steady, controlled rise in prices. This report discusses about what is the result of high unemployment rate. Moreover, the research points out some methods to solve this problem.
2.0 Justification

The above questions are the basic fundamental principles in the study of economics. We hope to be studying economics at the University of Wollongong in the future and for this reason I chose the topic in question.

3.0 Analyze

3.1 Type of unemployment

Cyclical unemployment as the result of businesses not having enough demand for labor to employ all those who are looking for work. The lack of employer demand comes from a lack of spending and consumption in the overall economy. (Investopedia, 2014)

Europe are suffering a economy recession. A recession will bring thecyclical unemployment.

3.2 Aggregate expenditure

“”A high unemployment rate will decrease the production, then the national income will decrease. That means government will collect less tax revenue. Government should keep the inflation rate low so that consumer’s purchasing power will not fall.

The high unemployment rate will bring a decrease in consumption. Then the aggregate expenditure will decrease, the aggregate expenditure curve will shifts downwards. (vide diagram 1)

3.3 The Phillips Curve

In economics, the Phillips curve is a historical inverse relationship between rates of unemployment and corresponding rates of inflation that result in an economy. Stated simply, decreased unemployment, (i.e., increased levels of employment) in an economy will correlate with higher rates of inflation. (Blanchard, 2000)

“”Europe are suffered a recession in economy, high unemployment rate and low inflation. To reduce the unemployment rate, Europe countries should try to increase the inflation rate.

“”The diagram 1 shows the short-run Phillips curve.

Europe countries financial apartment should aim the government expenditure and tax (include business tax and income tax) to reduce unemployment. These apartments should increase the government expenditure and tax revenue. A decrease in business tax can promote the investing behaviour, while a decrease in income tax can lift the disposable income so that to increase the consumption. The aggregate demand curve will shifts to the right. (vide diagram 3) Then the aggregate demand will increase. Finally, the inflation rate will increase, while the unemployment rate will decrease.

3.4 Expansionary policy

“”A macroeconomic policy that seeks to expand the money supply to encourage economic growth or combat inflation (price increases). One form of expansionary policy is fiscal policy, which comes in the form of tax cuts, rebates and increased government spending. Expansionary policies can also come from central banks, which focus on increasing the money supply in the economy. (Investopedia, 2014)
However, it is necessary for a country’s central bank to use expansionary policy when a country suffered a economic recession. In economic recession, Europe are suffered high unemployment rate. So central bank should use expansionary policy to reduce the unemployment rate.

First, central bank should use some method to increase the money supply, such as buy more bonds, decrease the reserve rate and increase the discount rate. Then, the interest rate will decrease. Next, the consumption and investment will increase. After that, the aggregate expenditure will increase. Finally, the price level and real GDP will increase, while the unemployment rate will decrease.

4.0 Conclusion

This research has taken information from various sources to answer the two questions, what will happen when a country suffering high unemployment rate and what can government do to lower unemployment rate. Europe are suffering a economy recession which will bring the cyclical unemployment. As a result of high unemployment, there will be a decrease in consumption and national income. If Europe countries want to lower their unemployment rate , they should decrease the tax rate. Therefore, there will be more investing behaviour and the consumption will increase. Besides that, the cental bank can also apply expansionary policy to lower unemployment rate. They can use some method to increase the money supply, such as buy more bonds, decrease the reserve rate and increase the discount rate. As a result, interest rate will go down, which will cause the consumption and investment increase. Therefor, the price level and real GDP will increase, while the unemployment rate will decrease. However, both actions will cause inflation rate go up. Because of this reason, Europe should study and weight their situation right and welly.

Article 2

News Summary
According to the Office for National Statistics, The Consumer Prices Index, rose to 1.8% in April from 1.6% in march.

The office for National Statistics said when Easter, which decreased in April this years, maybe it affect an impact on travel costs. The petrol price was also higher than a year which April in last year. (Angela, 2014)

The increase of CPI rate in April suggests that the cost of living is rising faster than the wage rises. The latest figures on profit demonstrated that they climbed at a yearly rate of 1.7% in the three months to March.

The rate of expansion as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) was unaltered at 2.5%. Regardless of the expand in the CPI swelling measure, the rate is still underneath the Bank of England’s 2% focus for expansion.

A week ago, Bank of England representative Mark Carney said he expected the rate of swelling to stay beneath its focus for the following two years. (Angela, 2014)

Consumer Price inflation should ease to as low as 1% by the end of this year and remain comfortably below the 2% target in 2015.

2.0 Analyse

2.1 Type of inflation

Cause of the increase in goods production expenses, the inflation rate increase to 1.8%. Thus, this is cost-push inflation.

The cost-push inflation is a phenomenon in which the general price levels rise (inflation) due to increases in the cost of wages and raw materials. (Investopedia, 2014)

“”Cost-push inflation caused by increase in cost of production, such as wages, rent and price of materials. An increase in cost of production will bring a decrease in short-run aggregate supply. The Short-run aggregate supply curve will shifts to the left (vide diagram 5). Then, the price level will go up, while the real GDP will drop.

These phenomenon will lead a recessionary gap. Government should try to reduce the unemployment rate. The best way for government to solve this issue is implements expansionary fiscal policy. Based on this policy, government should increase the government expenditure and decrease the tax revenue (include the business tax and income tax). A decrease in business tax can promote the investing behaviour, while a decrease in income tax can lift the disposable income so that to increase the consumption. Then the aggregate demand will increase. After that, the real GDP and price level will increase.
2.2 The Phillips Curve

In 1958 AW Phillips plotted 95 years of information of UK compensation swelling against unemployment. It appeared to recommend a short-run exchange off between unemployment and expansion

The hypothesis behind this was reasonably clear. Falling unemployment may cause climbing expansion and a fall in swelling may just be conceivable by permitting unemployment to climb

In the event that a Government needed to decrease the unemployment rate, it could expand total request yet, in spite of the fact that this may briefly build work, it could additionally have inflationary ramifications in the process of childbirth and the item showcases.

Key to comprehension this exchange off is to consider the conceivable inflationary impacts in the process of childbirth and item showcases from an expand in national wage, yield and livelihood.

The work market: As unemployment falls, work deficiencies may happen where talented work is in short supply. This puts weight on wages and costs to climb

Other element markets: Cost-push swelling can likewise originate from climbing interest for wares, for example, oil, copper and handled made merchandise, for example, steel, solid and glass

“”Item markets: Rising interest permits suppliers to lift costs to build their overall revenues. The danger of climbing costs is most excellent when interest is out-stripping supply-limit. (Craig,2012)

Depending on Short-Run Philips Curve, as the unemployment rate decreasing, it can increase in inflation rate and there is inverse relationship between unemployment rate and inflation rate.

The SRPC shows the inverse relationship between unemployment rate and inflation rate. (Vide diagram 6)

Because inflation and unemployment are inversely related, government cannot solve both economic problems(unemployment and inflation)at the same time.

The rate of CPI increase then the inflation increase.

As the average wages were increased, the cost of production will increase and it also affect the short-run aggregate supply(SAS) to fall. As the SAS decreased ,SAS curve will be shifts to the left that the price will increase and real GDP will decrease. The result of the SAS shifting, it can be affected inflation rise and the real GDP fall with affect production rise and at the end the number of unemployment will fall.

3.0 Conclusion

In a conclusion, the unusual rise of UK inflation rate in April is the first increase in last 10 months with the increase of CPI (Consumer Prices Index). This rise shows that the cost of living will even increase faster than wage growth. It is actually unusual to UK as a developed country, people might suffer by the prices of food or other living conditions if the inflation rate keep increasing in this speed. However, this significant rise could be just ‘a blip’ due to the timing of Easter and the cost of travel increased .The increase of fares for flights and ferries contribute a lot in pushing up the inflation rate. The increases in travel and fuel costs were offset to some extent by a fall in the cost of food. Though the inflation rate is higher wage growth, Ben Brettell, economics editor at stockbrokers Hargreaves Lansdown said in long term, the wage growth must still be higher than inflation rate. It means that the real wage growth will increase faster than the prices over next few years. The Capital Economics economist Samuel Tombs consider the inflation rate will remain comfortably below the target of 2015 which is good for people.

  1. MARKET OVERVIEW
  1. PESTLE

Political

Political factors impact on the way business operates. The statutory minimum wage affects all businesses, as do consumer and health and safety laws.

The political decision as to whether or not the UK signs up to have the Single European Currency is having an impact on UK businesses, which includes Vimto.

Economical

All businesses are affected by economical factors nationally and globally. Interest rate policies and fiscal policies will have to be set accordingly. Within the UK the climate of the economy dictates how consumer may behave within society. Whether an economy is in a boom, recession or recovery will also affect consumer confidence and behaviour. This has an impact on most businesses including Vimto. An economy which is in a recession is characterized by high unemployment, and low confidence. Because of high unemployment spending is low; confidence about job security is also low. Consumers will be more inclined to reduce their spending because of their low revenues. This leads businesses to try to reduce their operation cost to save money. The market is seeing a growth so we can assume that the impact on Vimto will be currently minimal. (Marketline, 2013)

Social

The social factors affecting Vimto include the demographic changes, cultural aspect and consumers habits. These factors affect customer needs and the size of potential markets.

Vimto being sweet and fruity will appeal to the younger demographic. It has also introduced energy drink in its portfolio that will entice sporty and diet aware people. (Just-drinks, 2013)

Technological

Technological factors are vital for competitive advantage, and are a major driver of change and efficiency. With the advent of social media allowing for a wide range of consumer to be targeted, it simply cannot be neglected anymore and those who invest in that area will have a significant advantage. (Brand Republic, 2009)

Laws & regulation

Environmental

Like any other drinks brand, Vimto experiences many environmental threats to both production and brand awareness. They have to ensure that their packaging and brand is not affecting the environment or they could receive a backlash from consumers and activisits. (Loulla-Mae Eleftheriou-Smith, 2011)

  1. Current business trends

The performance of the market is forecast to accelerate, with an anticipated CAGR of 4.4% for the five-year period 2012 – 2017, which is expected to drive the market to a value of $16,063.6m by the end of 2017. Comparatively, the French and German markets will grow with CAGRs of 1% and 1.6% respectively, over the same period, to reach respective values of $4,827.6m and $11,274.2m in 2017. (MarketLine, 2013)

  1. TOWS ANALYSIS
Tows analysis for vimto. Threats
  • Competitors- Ribena with large financial backing
  • Unhealthy product as high in sugar etc.
  • Poor weather an effect the harvesting of berries essential to making Vimto.
Opportunities
  • Automated production (in order to cheaply mass produce)
  • Marketing via phone apps (Ribena sponsors apps why doesn’t Vimto).
  • Use of cyber marketing via websites such as fb.
Weaknesses
  • outsourcing production = higher costs
  • Expensive labour in the UK.
  • Hardly use the internet to advertise (despite target market being 10-25 year olds.
  • Not outsourcing means they will save money and therefore Vimto will be able to be more competitive against competitors such as Ribena who have a large financial backing.
  • Weather in the UK does sometimes effect the harvest of crop (eg. The flooding recently) therefore by moving abroad Vimto can take advantage of both cheap labour and a more stable climate for growing berries.
  • Instead of outsourcing, if Vimto where to produce there product internally they could invest in an automated production line saving them money in the long run due to small labour costs and improved efficiency.
  • Opportunity to use Facebook and phone apps to advertise to target market (10-25 year olds) who are the main users of the internet. (this is something that Ribena defiantly do better than Vimto)
Strengths
  • Cheap ingredients sourced locally.
  • New electronic documenting system (saving £50,000 a year)
  • Joint venture with weight watchers to try to improve brand image.
  • Although Vimto is unhealthy they have recently entered into a joint venture with weight watchers in order to improve their brand name, this is due to a social shift towards healthy food and drink.
  • If Vimto do decided to move abroad they will lose the cheap transport costs for their raw materials as well as the right to advertise that they produce Vimto in the UK from UK berries.
  • Advertise that Vimto source there ingredients from the UK keeping UK citizens employed – links in with new advertisements via internet and apps.
  • Opportunity to widely advertise recycled bottles (due to a more socially conscious consumer)

Figure 2. – TOWS analysis table.

4.1 Key issues

From the TOWS, the important issues to consider are: high costs resulting from using UK labour and not outsourcing. Lack of Internet of coverage and presence as social medias (i.e. Facebook) aren’t well or not exploited at all.

4.2 Key opportunities

From the TOWS, the key opportunities include: The energy sector remains the fastest growing category in soft drinks at 7% per annum (Nichols, 2014) so mergers with well-known brand (recently with Weightwatchers) are a good option. Wide advertisement of its green position. Use of cyber marketing by using social medias to target a broader range of consumers.

  1. STRATEGY

4.1 Brand Development strategy

The brand image is already in place. Vimto must simply supply evidence to the consumers that their brand image is accurate and worthwhile. Vimto provide proof of their quality products and services by advertising that they’re locally produced following a strict CSR code.

4.2 Pricing strategy

As the company generated good numbers despite the anticipated reduction, an alteration of the price isn’t critical.

4.3 Advertising strategy

It should be focused more on the range of exposure through multiple media sources (i.e social medias).

4.4 Distribution strategy

Progress continues to be made in Nichols Dispense business, with consolidation of the independent distributor base. This also involved the full integration of Festival Soft Drinks Limited, based on the south coast of England, into Nichols Dispense during 2013.

4.5 Marketing strategy

The marketing strategy of Vimto will be to:

Increase awareness of the brand finding innovative way to use the multimedia tools (i.e. Facebook etc.).

Build strategic partnerships to make sure that you will be able to take advantage of their brand recognition and infrastructures.

Differentiate themselves from competitors through introduction of new products consumer targeting specific type (i.e. sport drinks with flashy PET bottle to attract sportmen). Continued advertisement of ‘green’ resolutions adoption and CSR policies.

  1. SUMMARY

The target Market could be sometimes hard to reach due to the fact that most of them are not well exposed to the brand compared to the competition such as Coca-Cola. This marketing and promotion could be overcome by selecting a wider range of marketing and communication tools.

New products introduced offer a number a choices to consumers and widen its base. Additionally, corporate responsibility position makes it look respectable and apealling.

The strong market position Vimto has in the global market gives its products a high change of success. Vimto has a well established market position in the soft drinks industry, which gives it a large scale of new opportunities by the bias of mergers.

If the implement of those new ways to attract consumers (i.e social media) is done, it will gives them a competitive advantage.

Stage 1

Stage 2

Stage 3

Stage 4

Stage 5

Stage 6

Stage 7

Stage 8

Stage 9

Stage 10

(Linking ideas from the literature to show how they relate ),不能随意抒发自己主观想出来的观点( Students cannot add their own ideas directly).

2.Academic Essay

1.开头段Introduction (Including background), 2.主体段(Body),3.Conclusion(总结段) 4. 然后根据字数,又可以分为Short Essay(小于1200字)和Long Essay(大于1200字)

3.Citation
Harvard Referencing
MLA Style,Chicago Style
法律类:Bluebook(美), OSCOLA(英)

4.Short Essay(小于1200字) 的结构是什么?

Introduction
(State the topic addressed in the essay)
2.Background:Provide some history relevant to the topic or give statistics to show the significance of the topic or provide of example of the significance of the topic
3.Summary of Essay argument(a thesis statement)

Body
2.每个主体段都有一个Topic Sentence(最好来自文献)
3.每个主体段之后都有N句支持句(other sentences to develop and explain the idea,最好来自文献)
(Linking sentence

Conclusion
1.Summary of essay argument
2.Restatement of significance of the topic(Optional)
(No new material)

5.Long Essay(长于1200字)的结构是什么?

Introduction
1.Topic statement+Background写一段
2.Summary of Essay argument

Body
Sections
Paragraph
Internal Logic

10.Essay

Few would argue that Construction Safety Training is a vital component of assuring the safety and well-being of all those involved on a construction project. It is not enough to say that Workplace Health & Safety is your number one priority and have everything written out without actively enforcing it on the worksite. Over time the public has begun to take notice of the importance of safety rules and regulations in the workplace. Safety rules and regulations cannot be overlooked when it comes to trying to stop accidents and fatalities on the job.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration are not only focused on a safe work environment they are also geared to make sure employers comply with the regulations. This chapter seeks to demonstrate the importance of the health and safety campaigns in relation to the techniques in which they are delivered along with implementing the campaigns in offering training courses to provide adequate knowledge to ensure health and safety in the construction sector is kept at a high standard.

6.1 Safety Posters

The reasons for providing health and safety posters are obvious enough. Almost all jobs have their unique hazards capable of causing minor to major accidents. Installing workplace safety posters is a fundamental part of any safety campaign in a working area. Safety posters play an important role in:

Alerting personnel to take adequate safety precautions at specific hazardous locations at their workplace

Prompting workers to put on safety gear

Outlining steps to be taken in the event of an emergency situation like a fire or an explosion

Alerting personnel to handle carefully, containers holding dangerous substances

Instructing personnel on ways to dispose of dangerous waste

Work personnel, though aware of the essential dangers of their workplace, tend to be slack and complacent at times. Being smug at workplace can cost precious lives and loss of person-hours. Health And Safety Posters may not be a fool proof method to avoid accidents but it helps nevertheless. A catchy visual display is a constant reminder that safety comes first.

When we think of safety awareness posters, many of us think of the posters that are mostly text and a collection of small crossed out images that have become common in workplaces since such warnings became compulsory. However, through the use of more interesting and less overwhelming styles, posters are still able to convey their point without coming across as dull or uninteresting as many previous styles have been. When relating to safety posters in a construction industry it is important to catch the eye of not only the worker but also the public to ensure they understand the hazards.

Examples of such techniques to catch the target audience are as follows:

Utilizing Humour and Cartoon Characters: Many employees appreciate having safety information available to them but aren’t able to focus on safety awareness posters that are full of cramped text. To combat this, a more engaging approach was developed. These posters are often humorous while conveying the safety warning in a simple manner that is easily remembered.

Safety Awareness Posters in Break Areas: While yes these posters are often found tacked to a wall in the break room, they are also being used more effectively at eye level. This is achieved by creating tabletop versions of workplace safety awareness posters.

Colourful Images and Fonts: Earlier, the majority of safety awareness posters utilized larger text, red bars and crossed out activities to convey their point. Now the message is more interestingly conveyed through colourful images and text which are both interesting to look at in shape and colour. This is more effective because colour is more likely to capture the eye than large areas of small text that were more common till a few years ago.

Pictures over Text: Information has its place but if the point you wish to convey can be made through the use of one or a few appropriate images, it is certain to be more effective and also more appreciated by employees. Large posters that utilize images with a brief statement can attract the eye, engage the mind and save employees’ time.

Breaking up of Text Blocks: Where instructions are absolutely necessary, it helps to keep the reader focused if those instructions are broken into smaller portions and given example illustrations to show what might otherwise be written.

6.2 Training Courses

Chris Mee Safety Engineering (CMSE) is a leading provider of Health and Safety training courses at venues all over Ireland.  At CMSE they pride themselves on the quality and value of all the training courses that they provide.  Their instructors are practical, highly qualified and experienced in their respective training areas.Â

They are also accredited by these bodies and many more. Their training will provide the best knowledge in ensuring health and safety is employed in the construction industry.

6.3 Fás Safe Pass Scheme Ireland

Information

The Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training Programme aims to ensure that all construction workers in Ireland have a basic knowledge of health and safety. Safe Pass is a one-day programme run by FÁS to enable them to work on construction sites without being a risk to themselves or others who might be affected by their actions.

Employers are required by law to ensure that employees on construction sites in Ireland carry Safe Pass cards. As a result, employers must ensure that all employees are properly trained. 6.4 Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

The importance of health and safety at work cannot be overstated. The employer has both a moral and a legal obligation to ensure that his employees work in both a safe and healthy environment.

The Health and Safety Executive aims to be an ideal organisation in terms of health and safety management and performance. Part of achieving this is making clear plans and campaigns each year about core health and safety. These plans set out the key activities they want to do and the targets they have set themselves.

Morally no worker should be forced to work in an environment where his welfare is at risk. It also makes good business sense to ensure that workers are both safe and healthy during working hours. Sick or injured workers lead to a drop in production and a subsequent loss of profits. Moral issues aside, there are strict laws and regulations governing health and safety at work, and should an employer misbehave these requirements he could find himself being prosecuted and having to pay out large sums in compensation.

The HSE are in change of health and safety regulations in the workplace. The HSE not only enforce these regulations, but will also prosecute employers when they are contravened. While this is very necessary, it puts an enormous strain on employers whose first concern, quite naturally, is to run their businesses as efficiently as possible.

While the HSE produces plenty of information on the regulations, which are often updated, the typical busy employer or manager often has little time to read through them, let alone fully understand them. It is because of this that agencies have emerged that advise employers, managers and key employees just what the law demands and how to comply by keeping your work premises and practices as safe as possible. These agencies also run courses on various aspects of health and safety, many of which are certificated.

6.5 Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)

Another one of these courses is the IOSH Working Safely Certificate. This course meets the HSE’s requirements as a safety certificate. It defines and identities risks and hazards and looks at ways of improving safety performance. The course also looks at safe systems of working, and considers personal responsibility for safety in the workplace, as well as the protection of staff in the working environment.

The IOSH Certified 1 day Working Safely course is designed to train people to contribute to health and safety in the work place and to help people to understand their health and safety responsibilities

Course Objectives

On completion of the course, delegates should be able to:

Understand the need to work safely

Explain the consequences to both the individual and their organisation if they fail to work safely

Can define the terms ‘hazard’,’ risk’ and ‘risk controls’

Explain the importance of risk assessment

Give examples of risk assessment from everyday life

Appreciate the role of workplace precautions

Use appropriate workplace precautions

Describe a health and safety management system

Identify lines of communication with respect to health and safety in their place of work

The fact that such courses exist emphasises the importance of health and safety at work in the modern world.

6.6 Conclusion & the Importance of Safety Training in Construction

Construction is one of the most dangerous sectors to work in, with high injury and fatality rates around the world. Training staff in identifying and avoiding work site hazards is a vitally important way of reducing the number of incidents in construction. Training should be updated regularly to ensure that all workers are fully knowledgeable on the risks posed on a daily basis.

Training is an important method of alerting employees to workplace hazards because, without this information, workers may feel that their safety is at risk, and become demoralized and unwilling to work in such conditions. Training is also a good way of fulfilling legal obligations, because attendance can be taken at a training course, and therefore the company can prove that they have taken adequate steps to prevent accidents or injuries.

With on-going training, employees are more aware of the hazards they face. As a result, workers can identify risks before they cause harm or injury, and take safe and sufficient steps to either remove the hazard, or minimize it. The rate of accidents, injuries and fatalities within an organization will become lower, giving workers more confidence that they are working in a safe environment, and thus boosting productivity and loyalty.
